3.5

fun little pocket book of star trek short stories I found at my local bookstore
———
A Private Anecdote by Landon Cary Dalton - ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
  • Interesting beginning but could have dived much deeper into Pike’s negative emotions and confusion over whether it was truly reality
The Last Tribble by Keith L. Davis - ⭐️
  • beginning had WAY too much science info dumped on quickly I felt v confused over paragraphs and paragraphs of random terms i didn’t know and then the end was just sort of hallow
The Lights in the Sky by Phaedra M. Weldon - ⭐️⭐️
  • made one of the coolest tos side characters so cringey and whiny… honestly the ending should have been the entire story
Reflection by Dayton Ward - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • A lovely look back on what could have been if Kirk had made a different decision at a pivotal moment
What Went Through Data’s mind 0.65 Seconds Before the Satellite Hit by Dylan Otto Krider - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • Loved this one so much, a lot like data’s day
The Naked Truth by Jerry M. Wolfe - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • So good, gave some depth to two of my favorite side characters (ro laren is actually one of my favorite characters of all time despite many trekkies not loving her) and some bajoran history!
The First by Peg Robinson - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • Loved the imagery of this, very well written and engaging
See Spot Run by Kathy Oltion - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • so freaking cute
Together Again, for the First Time by Bobbie Benton Hull - ⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • Liked the Guinan and Picard interactions but the plot was thin and there was some odd writing bits
Civil Disobedience by Alara Rogers - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • Qcard angst ❣️ending felt a little rushed tho
Of Cabbages and Kings by Franklin Thatcher - ⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • Interesting concept but left me with more questions than answers
Life’s Lessons by Christina F. York - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • cutie nog and him having a crush on keiko o’brien
Where I Fell Before My Enemy by Vince Bonasso - ⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • a bit of a blend of ds9 and tos, the plot was kinda thin tho
Good Night, Voyager by Patrick Cumby - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • fun, felt like voyager episode story
Ambassador at Large by J. A. Rosales - ⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • you remember that weird baby alien from that tos episode? he’s back and with the original enterprise dude he took with him !
Fiction by jaQ Andrews - ⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • Interesting concept but I did not like the ending at all, made Chakotay look villainous
I, Voyager by Jackee C. - ⭐️⭐️.5
  • I’ve read much better j/c fanfic
Monthuglu by Craig D. B. Patton - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • Loved the format, felt like they had all the characters’ voices down pat
The Man Who Sold the Sky by John J. Ordover - ⭐️⭐️
  • Was the man supposed to be Pike???
The Girl Who Controlled Gene Kelly’s Feet by Paula M. Block - ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
  • Interesting concept but left me with more questions than answers
