I really like the information provided in the book and like that it makes you question everything we’ve known About salt. I do think the narrative of “salt can cure basically anything” is dangerous and unnecessary.
Very interesting! We are finding out that so much of what we have been told about food was incorrect or incomplete and salt is no different. It all comes down to getting rid of that other white substance - sugar!
Really interesting information with studies as backup to support the importance of salt to the human body.
This book would be incredible… if it were accurate! After listening to the audiobook (where I don’t see sources), I went to look up some of the studies.
If you search “the salt fix debunked” you’ll find a very long post called “fact-checking the salt fix” by Pierre Dalcourt. He read the actual studies linked and fact checks point by point.
At best, this book suffers from severe cherry-picking. At worst, it may be influenced by funding from the salt industry.
That said, as someone who generally doesn’t like added salt, I did perk up when I started using electrolytes before & during exercise. I’ve actually been told by a doctor to eat more salt because my blood pressure was too low.
So as often happens when it comes to books about nutrition… do your own research and don’t believe everything you hear!

Some interesting information and arguments here. Book is a little dry reading but worth checking out.
I only read ~ 30% of it in total.
After about 27% it got soo repetitive and I skimmed through the rest. Mostly just read the headlines of the chapters and that was sufficient.
But it did convince me to eat more salt again 🤔😄

Interesting information but presented in a way that was way too factual. I wanted more practical information. I am going to be checking out some suggested salts and more information on iodine as a result of this book.
