I really liked the structure of this book. It starts off with a magazine article and then follows different perspectives of the people featured in the article after it is published. This worked well to convey the ways that media can be intentionally misleading and designed to maximize attention. The commentary on race/politics/society was smart and biting. No one is blameless and everyone is a victim. A short book that packed a punch.

Lots of big ideas in a little book. She has a fascinating way of telling multiple perspectives, including some of awful people and making them all feel human.

hitting someone over the head with a gold bar that is “actually gold-plated tungsten” is about as direct as it gets lol. satirical and enjoyable!
