Do not read.

Disturbing. Books like this are dangerous because they model abusive relationships romantically. Also just really bad.

dark emotional tense

I was not a huge fan of this novel like some of Carlton's other novels.

Now, the overall storyline was intriguing. The FMC is mysterious and on the run, and the MMC is unsuspecting of the FMC and broody. There were some twists and turns I think the reader can see coming and of course there are some that pop up out of nowhere.

My biggest complaint is the character development was incredibly underwhelming. He's just an asshole to be an asshole and she just takes it for the sake of taking it. & the growth they have happens in the span of about 1 or 2 chapters, that's it. I think it would have been a far more compelling story had we seen more growth and more development over the course of the book.

Please double check TWs before you read because this is DARK with a lot of actions that had me wondering if I really read what I just read.

I dont know what to say right know and how i feel about this book.
Its definitely a fucked up dark romance.
I thought i cant root for them and overcome what he did to her in the beginnin but it became so much more fucked up afterwards i kind of did.

Its defineitely smutty and disturbingly hot.

Check your triggers before reading.

I love the characters. I love the dialogue. The spicy scenes are hot as hell and the mystery/thriller-ish aspects certainly delivered (and I’m not one to really enjoy those mystery subplots all too much).
The first shark scene was just lovely and I very much enjoyed seeing the growth of both of our main characters. I especially appreciated the written and clearly expressed acknowledgment of shorty behavior and genuine apologies to allow for Sawyer and Enzo to start up anew with a fresh start and work towards a healthy relationship now built upon a toxic foundation.
I 100% would recommend this book. If you like this genre and are debating reading this book do yourself the favor and READ IT (though please keep yourself safe and look over the trigger warnings first).

I was not expecting this book to be what it was. The thriller side of this book was amazing! There was some foreshadowing with the direction of the book but you still never expected the twist. And as toxic as Sawyer and Enzo were I really loved how their relationship turned out. They are so fiercely protective of one another and by the end you could see how much they cared for one another.

Almost unexplainably 5 stars. Two despicable people trapped in a strange and mysterious circumstance, pushing each other to their limits and becoming unbearably intertwined along the way.
