I was really disappointed by this book. I heard so many good things about it from booktok. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to “yuck” somebody’s “yum”, but it just wasn’t very good. It seems like Sawyer and Enzo were kind of forced together at first. There’s not much of a build. They just kind of find each other and are instantly having sex. The spice isn’t necessarily bad, as a matter of fact, I thought it was really good until it’s contextualized. It’s almost like CNC without the C part. Towards the end it got a bit more interesting but it only lasted a little while before falling short again.

Amazing book. Both terrifying and hot at the same time.

Sylvester is absolutely the most creepy and sinister man I've ever read about, and you can feel that throughout the whole book even though you have no idea why he's giving off those vibes. And when you find out what's actually going on right under the noses of Sawyer and Enzo the entire book, it's absolutely devastating and horrifying.

But man are the spicy scenes spicy. The way Sawyer and Enzo play off of fear and being scared is absolutely crazy.

I loved how Enzo is just mean and broody and he doesn't change that's just the way he is, and that Sawyer is so strong and doesn't rely on anyone after what had happened to her in her past. But what I love most is their chemistry together the way that both of their pasts make them perfect together even if it takes a bit to get to the point where neither of them run away from each other.

You can tell how deeply Enzo cares for Sawyer despite what she did to him even when he hates the way he feels for her.

The two stories you get in this book are just absolutely phenomenal. I poved reading about the mystery of what's actually going on with sinister Sylvester and the lighthouse and what happened to his family even though it terrified me at times and of course Sawyer and Enzo's story.

Overall an incredibly entertaining story. Would definitely recommend but definitely check the trigger warnings because they are no joke.
