The book had so much potential. The start already felt weak, almost lost interest there.
What I didn't like is that it doesn't really follow up what happened from the chapter before to the next one. It just gets mentioned what happened but not really shown. Every chapter is a time skip which is really annoying.
I really liked Vivian though and how much she cares for Aria. And Aria is so adorable. Almost stayed just for her but I've completely lost interest in the story.

Vivian, Daniel, and their kindergartner Aria have just moved to a magical town to enroll Aria in the local magical grammar school. Everyone there is from multigenerational magical or cryptid families, and knows all about the school's quirks, personalities, and requirements - and about an ancient, scary town prophecy. But Aria is an anomaly (a werewolf who was forcibly turned), and her parents are new to this world and very aware of their struggles. Can they keep Aria safe in this strange new world, and help both her and themselves find a place to thrive?

Rozakis wrote one of my favorite books of 2024 (Dreadful). This one wasn't quite that successful for me, but it's still very good. There is a lot about Vivian's anxiety and people-pleasing, raising a special-needs kindergartner, the strain both of those things take on a marriage, and group social dynamics and cliques in both juvenile and adult settings. Sometimes reading about all that can be exhausting, especially when it gets repetitive. But the underlying story and worldbuilding is good.

Breezed through this in just a few days. Hilarious and spot on, especially with the memos home from school. The main character was too self-doubting and got annoying, but overall a fun and satisfying book. High striving parents and HP millennials are the target market.
