Vivian and Daniel move to a new town with daughter Aria, where they must navigate the world of high-stakes testing, school fundraisers, and mean girls (and their parents). And oh yeah, Aria is a werewolf and her classmates are selkies, mages, vampires and other magical creatures. Viv joins the Grimoire School PTA where she tries hard to fit in and win the favor of Queen Bees Cecily and Moira, but a discrepancy in the PTA funds and a town prophecy add some complications to the mix. Meanwhile, Viv is also trying to help her new-to-werewolfing daughter control her transformations and having arguments about household balance with her husband.
The students at this school might harbor magical abilities, but the problems faced by them and their parents are awfully mundane, with a few fun twists (new food allergies are in the mix--garlic is out for obvious reasons), the school lunch menu contains liquid options (blood) and bottled emotions captured from living human souls, and schools go on lockdown due to hellhounds. Oh, and apparently you can't escape invitations to MLMs selling essential oils, even when the hosts are immortal.
The premise of this is a lot of fun, but it also becomes very repetitive. Daniel and Viv have the same arguments over and over, and you'll get tired of Cecily and Moira way before Viv does.
