Mr. Kong is forced to watch over Cabinet 13, a very regular file cabinet filled with very extraordinary research accounts of all kinds of “special people” – like someone who has a ginkgo tree growing out of their finger, a group of people who skip through time, and a man who really, really want to be a cat.

Read if you're on a road trip in Iceland and this is the book you brought with you.

I enjoyed the read— it was paced well, a bit funny, and didn’t bore me. I enjoyed the fragmented style. In the end, though, it felt like it was missing something. Entertaining but not my favorite.

Enjoyed this book but it took me a bit to get through. The writing style reminded me of Murakami, and there was a similar element of fantastical realism.

very interesting book. i can't really say i enjoyed the ending, but it made sense for this kind of book. in general, i did enjoy this book and the concepts it dealt with, and i think other than the ending, i'd label this a light read.

This was exactly my scene. It got weirder as it went along: just the way I like it. One of the blurbs described it as a thriller, which I don't agree that it was up until the last few chapters. In fact, earlier chapters felt more like short stories loosely strung together. I'm still thinking about how to interpret the ending and the whole premise in general. It got disturbing, but not at the level of The Humans. Not a strong endorsement for going to Seoul, though: even the food is described with suspicion.
