I have been wanting to read this book for a couple of years and I was not disappointed. Perfect for fans of Vince Flynn's Mitch Rapp or Daniel Silva's Gabriel Allon. It is violent, but I mostly skim the fight scenes and the rest of the story kept me interested. Definitely what I call "guy-lit."

Very promising start but a weak finish.
The first half of this book was most thrilling. The opening set of action sequences amazed me so much I thought I had found a new gem; the action was hard-hitting and brilliantly choreographed, the protagonist seemed to be an intelligent character that was clearly shown to be so and the pacing was superb.
The plot while not original had a high stakes feel to it. A deadly and shadowy terrorist organization trying to rid themselves a potential roadblock in memory-hampered Reid Lawson, who was previously a major torn in their flesh. The antagonists were believable and not cartoonish, it was good to see the protagonist employ real skill in overcoming them.
And still on the protagonist, there was a most unfortunate shift between his nature in the first half, where he displayed ruthless efficiency and independence, this was in contrast to the guy who suddenly couldn't get things done without help. It was like all his sharpness was suddenly blunted, and he devolved from badass to weakass.
The writing while not especially top notch was able to tell an interesting story inspite of its simplicity, but when Agent Zero (Reid Lawson) reconnected with the CIA, everything from the plot to the entire character work just took a noticeable nosedive.
So a book of two halves, one good and the other very ordinary. I have seen enough to give the second book in the series a shot, but after such a limp ending, I'm in no rush.

One night Reid Lawson is kidnapped and it begins the unravelling of his life as he realises he is not who he thought he was and that his life was a delusion. But it also puts him on the path to find, and remember, the truth of why he has ended up in the position he finds himself.
There are overtones of Jason Bourne in this story with lots of action that never seems to stop. There is also plenty of violence, served up without regret. It is much like a an action movie and therefore missing some real character development. Of course there are many unanswered questions, hence this being the first book in the series.
Entertaining.
