decent backstory for Snow. still doesn’t top the original trilogy, but I don’t think anything ever will. I would love to see prequels for other characters, but I think this was a well-written prequel for Snow. It was interesting to see this world from his viewpoint.
I’ve been avoiding the movie as long as possible until I had time to read this. Overall it is a great addition to the hunger games series and it wholly explains Snow’s journey. I think the ending was both expected and unexpected, causing me to have mixed feelings about it. I feel like the internal turmoil Snow experiences should have more background and reasoning since it leads to the ultimate demise of his love and the rise of the capitol, but maybe it all just comes down to manipulation by his teachers and the capitol itself. He really did only ever care about himself.

A worthy follow-up to the Hunger Games trilogy, with plenty of chilling references to the original series and thoughtful parallels to current events.
This was a good read but it could have been about 50 pages shorter. The hunger games were different than they were in the movie, slightly different activities to that was good. I appreciated reading this after the movie came out so I could listen to some of the songs instead of reading the poetry. Snow is a creepy boy and it makes me itch to think there’s real people like that out there
Graphic: Violence
Ok I think this book was pretty good. I didn't know if I was going to read it but I'm glad I did! President Snow in the Hunger Games seemed really cruel and heartless but this book really helps understand why he is the way he is. Poor Coryo! (I can't remember how to spell his name and I'm not gonna go find it so I'll just use his nickname) He lost both his parents and lived with his grandmother and his cousin, Tigris. Wasn't Tigris that one lady who helped Katniss and them in like Mockingjay or something????? The name and occupation seemed familiar. Let me know! I thought that the Snows were always rich and what not but I guess not. Snow knew he and his family didn't have enough money but he still kept up appearances. How had like almost no one realize that?? Uh Lucy Gray was ok I guess..... that one other guy turned out to be right; She is not to be trusted. But Snow was soooooo heartbroken it was just sad. Why did she have to do that!?!?!!? Lucy, I'm coming for you! Someone should shove her off the bridge just like in her song :) I didn't really understand the title at first but then it clicked kinda Snow was the snake and Lucy was the songbird even though like Lucy and her snakes???? Like idk
Fui muito resistente para ler esse livro, justamente, porque é no ponto de vista do Presidente Snow. Porque eu ia querer saber a história dele? Sinceramente, não me interessa.
