Just not my thing. I don’t mind the reverse harem aspect of a book but I tend to favor the h ending up with just one. If anything, I felt that Clay and Travis had more romantic chemistry than Lilith did with either of them. The sexual tension was strong between the two of them despite how the author made it clear it was platonic love. But that’s just how I interpreted it.

Overall I disliked this story even though I thought the author's writing was good and this is very respectful of the BDSM community. That said, almost every single sex scene was ick for me. And there's a LOT of them.
Clay spanks her hard, with serious pain, with an architect ruler then cums on her back. Then he takes her to a BDSM club where we see this girl shrink wrapped and pleasured then pain-tortured by a dominatrix. And Clay has Lillith lick a window that a woman is being thrust against naked as her partner fucks her from behind. Then once Travis enters the picture and starts acting as Clay's surrogate, there's a LOT of pain play. Like pain so bad she wants to cry. Flogging her, spanking so hard it leaves marks all over her butt and legs so that she can't even wear a bikini without people seeing. The only sex scene in bed it started hot but then she somehow she takes both Clay and Travis' dicks in her vagina - wow that's a stretch since we're told they're both big.

Literally the only good sex scene is in the club when Travis first goes down on Lillith while everyone's watching and then fucks her. But it's ruined when Clay won't let them talk afterwards. And that's pretty much the theme of this book. Clay is kind of an asshole and I really didn't like him. I kept hoping Lillith would leave him and get with Travis, but I suspected this would be a M/F/M relationship. She and Travis have so much more in common. They're both insanely beautiful, Clay isn't. She's a vet tech, he's a zoo tech, Clay is an architect. Lillith is 26, Travis is ~30, Clay is 35. Lillith and Travis are open about their emotions, Clay isn't. I literally kept reading just to find out about Travis because at least 60% of the book Clay won't let them speak. He's away a lot on his architect jobs. When Lillith disobeys, that's when she finds out he's Dr. Travis Eckhart.

The conflict is they get caught and Lillith says she wants a threesome relationship or nothing. Clay initially refuses but then later agrees. Both men are straight "but curious." They both love her. Clay trained Travis on how to be a dominant and some of that veered towards sexual, which made Clay uncomfortable, being forced to question his sexuality. Clay "doesn't like when things don't go according to his plans."

Lastly, the other thing that bothered me was their backstories. Clay's backstory is told, not shown, about this woman who made a big scene. Lillith says "oh maybe I'm not meant for love, I get bored in all my relationships." Girl wtf you are 26, you don't get to say that shit. And then suddenly she goes from vanilla sex to the most intense BDSM?? Like actual pain, not just being tied up. It felt like it came out of nowhere, she didn't gradually get into it.

We get to see a bit of Colin in this book, Preston's friend, hitting on Lillith at the pool, being a playboy. Sets up his book next.

I liked The Architect. This book is for all those who enjoyed „Praise“ by Sara Cate – and the Salacious Players Club-series and bdsm-related books in general. It introduces to bdsm, and does this very good and informative in my opinion. The FMC, Lilith, may be not part of the scene at the beginning of the book, but she is everything but inexperienced. I knew a little bit about Lilith, due to her being the best friend of the FMC of book 1 – The Doctor. Out of the main characters Clay was the one I sympathized with the most: He is a very private person who made bad experiences in a past relationship, and with all of that I could relate so very well. However, I did not feel as connected to the characters as in book 1 and 2 and I felt a bit oversaturated with the spice and caught myself skipping parts of the sex scenes.

So, I do like this book and I do recommend it, but for me it is also my least favorite book in the series so far.

wow…
