Perfect Saturday morning coffee on the porch read. Wonderfully enjoyable and no commitment.

Cute, easy, feel good read

What a cute book! A fast read and everybody got what was coming to them. I may need to find out what other books this author has written.

This was (finally) the fun, light read I was looking for. I liked the way such varied stories were linked all by the similar dress, book-ended (more or less) by the story of the designer of said dress. It was a great way to weave a variety of people and stories into one place.

Of course, as with any book that contains a variety of stories and characters that are only loosely linked, some of the characters and stories worked better than others for me. I particularly liked Jeremy and Natalie's story -- it was so sweet. And both of those characters ended up more likable for me than they initially began. I also liked Felicia's story, and her boss's perspective tossed in there -- that also went differently than I expected, in a good way.

The characters that worked less well for me were Andi, the private detective, and the ivy league graduate who pretty much made up an entirely fake life on instagram. They got happy endings like everyone else in the book pretty much, but the endings to their stories seemed more forced and less realistic.

I also really loved Ruthie, the sales associate at Bloomingdale's. I loved her wry wit and sarcasm, and could totally relate to the frustrations of working retail, though not quite on the level that she witnessed at Bloomingdale's, of course. I particularly enjoyed her section later in the book about the customer from hell who came in, hell bent on leaving with the little black Max Hammer dress.

This was a nice change of pace from what I've been reading lately, and it was a fun read.

It's amazing the effect the right dress can have on a woman's confidence - the 'it' dress in this story certainly has an effect. Warm, believable characters that I really cared about make this an enjoyable, relaxing read. I loved the intersecting stories, reminded me of one of my favourite films, Love Actually. Hard to choose a favourite character but Felicia, whom had been in love with her boss for so many years, was definitely most deserving of a happy ending and I was so glad that she did get one.

A quick but fun read linking complete strangers with differing personalities and backgrounds over the same little black dress

I actually loved this whole book and the way all the characters were intertwined in such a way, and the way the ending wrapped everything up so neatly

Lots of fun - nice light read - only one bittersweet story in the collection of happy endings.

As other people have said, this was a fun, sweet, romantic comedy—and a bit of a love letter to Bloomingdales and NYC.
