This was a nice, little, feel-good book. The word that keeps coming to mind is delightful. It's not great, and probably not even all that memorable, but it just hit the spot.
Cute story about a dress that keeps being bought and returned to a department store, and about the women that wear it. Lots of characters, including a movie star, Bloomingdale's salesgirl, a lawyer, an executive assistant, an unemployed Brown graduate, a Broadway diva, a dressmaker, and many more, and the several main story themes change POV between different characters.

I thought this book was a very cute, fun read, incredibly appropriate for summer. I liked seeing how the lives of these women (and a few men) were so impacted by the "it" dress of the season. At times, I thought there were too many cooks in the kitchen in a way, some perspectives or characters thrown in that were a bit unnecessary, not totally fleshed out and didn't add a whole to the story, but on the whole, I flew through this in a few days and had fun doing so.

4.5 Stars. This book was funny, quirky & so entertaining! I enjoyed hearing the stories of each character & fell in love with a few special book people. Being a New Yorker myself, I also appreciated the NYC setting & hilarious New Yorkers. I listened to this story on Audible, where it was narrated by a full cast of exceptional voice artists. So charming! (No strong language or explicit scenes but some adult situations.)
i love books like this: delivered in a neat package, all the loose ends tied up and every character receiving the ending that they deserve. it makes me feel like ive read something utterly complete. i really enjoyed this book, and every character i met. i loved all of their happy endings very much, and would love to find a dress that is as magical as the one they describe.
A fun, light, feel good kind of a story. I want a magical little black dress!
