This is a fun, light read that really nails the chick lit genre. A good book to escape with! The interconnected stories matched well with the setting of a bustling big city. Lots of fun references to NYC landmarks, iconic people, and foods.
Fun and frivolous. Just like McDonalds you know what you're going to get before you arrive.
I agree with other reviewers that the amount of characters in this story were very confusing. Beside the few "main" characters like Andie, Felicia, and Natalie, I couldn't remember who was who. The novel was also written in a teen-drama tone that was just a little bit too saccharine/angsty/excitable for me. WAY too many exclamation points, and the sheer number of characters made it impossible to feel any sort of connection with any of them. I also really didn't like the unnecessary, shoehorned-in 2 chapters about the Muslim sisters-- felt like the author was being super insensitive. She tried on a dress once and started doubting her religion? Seriously?! Also, this may be nitpicky, but women do not wear burqas indoors! Do your research! Overall, my favorite part of the book was Max Hammer's story, about how he came to the U.S. and made a name for himself, and the story of the black dress. The rest was a bit too trite for me.
3.5 stars. I liked the premise of the book, some story lines better than others. Six degrees of the black Max Hammer dress.
lighthearted
Adorable!! Easy and sweet read and what’s not to love about NYC Bloomingdale’s as the primary meeting location.
Listened to the audiobook on a very long car ride. Remember when Nora Ephron was alive and good romantic comedies were movies?
And now how they’re pretty much all crap if they even exists? This will fill your romcom void. A wonderful recovery read after a string of depressing books in January (not the optimal way to start my year, it turns out...)
