I loved the whole series it was amazing! This companion book was so good!
3.5/5 stars
This was a great summer read.
The story is good, but not nearly as engaging or emotional as the one from the "original girls". I was very annoyed with the characters at times, as they were beyond juvenile and most of their choices made me cringe with second hand embarrassment. But as the story progressed- so did the characters, each in their own way.
Overall, I don't feel like this book is necessary to the series, at all. This is just a side story. Something to stretch out the books. But I haven't read the final book yet, so maybe it all collides together in the last one? Although I highly doubt it.

When I first picked this up, I was sure I'd love it because, hello, Ann Brashares wrote it. But, after I started reading, I realized that my expectations may have been a bit too high. What Carmen, Lena, Tibby, and Bridget had was too good to recreate.
I think if I was in the right age group for this book I would have absolutely love it. I still really love YA books, but I don't get much out of them any more unless they're aimed at older teens rather than the younger teen audience this one is aimed at. It was still a light, entertaining read and I found myself a bit attached to the characters at the end as well.
This is a new book that's sort of connected to the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants--there never was a mention of Carmen, but there are some references to the other three.
Ama, Polly and Jo were best friends when they were little but now that they're older, they've grown apart. Jo got popular, Ama became very focused on school and Polly was just left behind. Over the summer, Polly becomes obsessed with modeling school, Ama gets stuck on some Outward Bound-esque program and Jo heads to Rehoboth Beach (!!!!) where her family has a beach house and works at a restaurant.
It's a cute story about how they manage to recapture their friendship. I enjoyed it, especially the references to Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, which I loved way more than I should. :)

The main idea was good, but it just wasn't enough to go on. I can't say it wasn't good, but for alot of this book I wasn't sure exactly what to think.
I was definitely not disappointed with this novel. Actually I believe it greatly exceeded my expectations in a way I wasn't sure way possible.
