A good start. More reflective than I was expecting. Good pacing and character.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“Yes, talk to Murderbot about its feelings. The idea was so painful that I dropped to 97 percent efficiency.”
All Systems Red introduces us to a SecUnit who calls itself Murderbot. After a tragic incident with a former group of humans, Murderbot is assigned to protect a new set of clients—but not before secretly hacking its own governor module. What follows is a mix of planetary hostiles, a neighboring team of scientists going mysteriously offline, and a SecUnit who would much rather be binge-watching reality TV than doing its job.
This was such a quick and fun read. Murderbot is surprisingly relatable—shy, awkward, and more invested in catching up on shows than saving the day. Watching it slowly shift from apathy to questioning what it means to care was both fascinating and endearing. I also appreciated the small glimpses into its tragic past, which left me eager to learn more in the rest of the series.
Recommended if you enjoy science fiction, reluctant and sarcastic protagonists, and fast-paced books that can be devoured in one sitting.
