I honestly don't know how to feel. It was definitely good, but it took me a while to really get into the plot (which is saying something considering this is like 150 pages), but it just felt like so much was missing. I'm sure that if I read the rest of the series (which is a maybe right now) then the story will feel more cohesive and meaningful, because this just felt very half finished. I did really like Murderbot as a character, which redeemed the mediocre plot.

Yeah I will be reading this whole series. The last line definitely hooked me in. This is giving the vibes I imagined the mars rover feeling throughout its journey if it had humans with it.

I'm not a sci-fi sort of guy, never have been. I might be allergic. But this book has stolen my heart so quickly it was almost an affront to my preconceptions. So quickly in fact that by halfway, I had already entertained the idea of continuing the series, and after the last few lines, I had written down the names to be sure to experience them in the right order.

I'll add, personally (since it's never mentioned outright, which I like in and of itself), that as an autistic person, this has been one of the most lovingly-crafted representations I've read. That's the best way I can manage to word it.
