The good: (1) a mystery with a touch of humor, good for light reading; (2) a Christmas mystery in which Christmas time actually played a role in the story, rather than being a mystery that just happened to take place around Christmas but could have happened any other time of the year.
The not-so-good: A rather one-sided depiction of the "bad guys" in this one. Perhaps it would have made a longer story to flesh out multiple dimensions in the antagonists in this one, but it would have made for more engaging (and believable) reading.

I miss the humor that used to be in these books. This was still quite a good read but I started reading this series because of the laugh out loud funny antics of Megs family and it seems to be missing lately.

A truly brilliant outing for Meg and her family and friends. While Meg is rehersing the Trinity Christmas pagnant, someone slips a baby into the manger -- a baby no one has seen before, with a note suggesting she may be the daughter of Meg's brother, Rob. Rob says it is not possible, but his girlfriend doesn't quite believe him...and that's not the only thing unusual about baby Lark.

All the characters we know and love, but taking on some surprising roles as the mystery evolves. An excellent edition to the series, if not quite as laugh aloud funny as Murder with Peacocks, still filled with holiday cheer and some important lessons for one little girl.

This story also stands alone, if you want to start the series here. (You'll want to go back, I'm betting).
