This book was so much fun to listen to while I worked on a sewing project! Exactly what I want out of a mystery: loveable characters, a plot with a little more depth than a point-A-to-point-B whodunit, and feeling transported to a cozy small town with vivid descriptions. I really enjoyed this introduction to the series, especially the audiobook. My 5 star version of the book would have some of the side characters and locations written with more depth and fewer tropes/stereotypes.

Another fun book in the Meg Langslow series. This story starts with Meg rehearsing the Christmas pagent and finds an unknown baby in the manger. She sets out to figure out who's baby it is. Her brother is originally thought to be the baby's father but then the mother is found and it is discovered that the father is being hunted by the Clay County police. They think he is a murderer.
Clay County is a corrupt place and Meg, her family and friends go about helping find the father and proving his innocence. They discover quite a bit of corruption and work on getting the Clay County people arrested.
Lots of action and the normal amount of quirky characters populate the book. Meg's family is always good for lots of side stories and amusing situations.
