Cassio Moretti is underboss of Philadelphia, when his wife dies and leave him with two small children he has no choice but to marry again. When it is suggested that he marries 18 year old Giulia Rizzo he isn’t exactly thrilled.
He was expecting a mother for his children, a woman his own age, not someone 14 years his junior.

Loved Cassio. He’s a great MMC, i read this so fast I couldn’t put it down. I really liked all the character development and the relationships between the MMC & MFC with the children. Little Daniel melted my heart.

fast paced, cute, nice build up but a let down at the end, minor angst, but they talked their problems through and that was the problem, i like my miscommunication tropes

Just wasn’t feeling this book at all. I dont really mind big age gaps but the guy and girl get married a day after her 18th birthday and it just felt so wrong.

“You could marry her in early November. That way the wedding wouldn’t be too close to Gaia’s funeral.”
“Why November?”
“That’s when she turns eighteen,” Luca said.

Sweet Temptation was a recommendation from booktok — a single dad trope with morally grey character. As you can see, we’d have to set aside our moral when reading this book. That’s the thing, I just… can’t.

This book tells us a story about Giulia who has to marry Cassio — an Underboss, who just lost his wife. Giulia has no choice but to go through the wedding and take her place as a mother for his two children.

The story started out strong. I like their dynamic and I enjoyed the hints behind his late wife’s death. However, there were aspects of this book that just made me cringe. For example: Cassio and Giulia had to show the bloody sheet to prove that he took her virginity to the guests.

That was just gross.

I really believe that the plot has a potential. But, the execution doesn’t do it justice. There are some scenes that I think the author could’ve done better to add some tension in the story. I also had a hard time seeing the love between Cassio and Giulia. I got the attraction, lust, and curiosity. But the love was just not there. Although, I have to admit that the smut was pretty good

I was definitely curious about Giulia after her introduction in Kiara’s story and it didn’t disappoint. I enjoyed the twists in the story and the snippets of their lives years after they got married.

ARC received from The Next Step PR

I went into this book having read all the Born in Blood Chronicle books, but not the Camorra Chronicokes yet. Let me assure anyone else in the same boat, that this book is truly a standalone and none of the other books need to be read. This can be read at any time. I would advise reading it after the first Born in Blood Chronicles book, only because the main characters are mentioned, but overall, it can be read first since none of their plot is given away. A cousin named Kiera is mentioned, and I believe she’s part of the Camorra Chronicles series; she’s young in this one, so it does seem to occur before the CC books (I think). In fact, reading this book first would be a good introduction to the mafia world that Cora has created.

Take the title literally though. I found this one to be a much lighter and sweeter read than the other series. While Cassio is an underboss, we don’t see much of his job occuring. The entire story is focused on family, marriage, and trust. I’m still not sure how I feel about it. I feel like the other books did a great job keeping mafia story and romance plotline balanced, while this one focused solely on romance and less of Cassio’s life outside family.

Overall though, I do think this is a great book and I enjoyed reading it so much! At first, I didn’t since it reminded me too much of Luca and Aria, with the young wife, forced marriage, but soon after the wedding ceremony, this book took a different turn and for that I was pleased.

Cassio is an underboss of Luca. The book begins with the death of his wife, leaving behind a toddler who now refuses to acknowledge his father and a baby. Guilia’s parents take advantage of the situation and align a marriage with their 17-year-old daughter, to take place four months later when she’s 18. So jump ahead by four months and that’s what happens. Cassio wants nothing to do with her really; she’s a convenient person to be a wife and now a mother to his children, while she also doesn’t want the marriage, but does want to make the best of it.

The author does a great job of showing Gulia’s mothering instincts emerge. While fearful at first, she soon figures it out and soon has the kids loving her more than him. I think the two characters balanced each other beautifully. After his first horrible marriage, he needs someone to love and trust. She is able to give him that, all while not allowing him to just be her boss; her husband. She is determined to be a family properly, while keeping her own personality in tact. She challenges him to ensure she isn’t overtaken by him.

The thing I disliked about this book was the son. I found given his young age, he experienced the trauma as an older child would.

It was a great book, a sweet read, and a wonderful standalone addition to Cora’s mafia worlds. It really makes me want to jump back into them all.
