The Spell Shop stole my heart last year and steadfastly remains a favourite. I even had to buy (another) plant to call Caz! 🪴
And returning to this world is just as amazing.
It is a warm hug. Brimming with magic, mouthwatering baking, and the most cosy settings, it’s the perfect escape from this scary world.
I love the island of Belde and its Russian doll style enchanted greenhouse. Composed of a multitude of smaller greenhouses, each is a magical microcosm of its own. It’s a place brimming with magical beings and ancient spells. I so desperately want to explore every corner - and savour the honeyed cakes.🪴🍯
With lyrical writing, magic and whimsy flow throughout, casting its spell of enchantment. The world building is seamless as @sarahbethdurst conjures up such vivid imagery you’re entirely immersed in this world of ancient plants, spells and mysteries. She masterfully weaves adventure, tension and depth into a heartwarming and whimsical tale.
It is the epitome of cosy fantasy. ✨
The entire cast is multi-faceted and endearing. All different. All valued. I love the Disney-esque feel to our magical beings with Emeral our Winged cat, mini dragons in sunflower mazes and singing plants. Especially Lotti our sentient scene-stealing rose. Her sassiness is fantastic!
Terlu is so relatable and for anyone else who’s felt too much or not enough, you’ll love her.
And Yarrow, our Luke Danes from Gilmore Girls. He’s the one with sunbeams bouncing through his gruffness. 🥹
With community and found family as the central theme, I was in my element.
It’s a place where kindness abounds, love blooms, second chances flourish and solace greets you as you enter the pages. It’s a place above all else where you are welcomed with open arms. Just as you are.
