5 for moments where it took my breath away. Incredibly profound and succinct moments that capture the human experience

Overall not without comment: I thought the chapter about Sally felt interruptive and I was just rushing to finish it and get back to the other perspectives

The structural concept of three women, different times, echoing each other, then entangling at the end. Magical!! The writing is so special also. A unique voice that feels so elevated, but not beyond comprehension.

This is my second Cunningham novel and I remember liking “Day”. “The Hours” is even better, by quite a bit! I hope to Read “Home at the End of the World” in the near future since this book made me love the author even more.

Watched this in tandem with the movie and actually really loved it, as both formats complement each other really well. While the movie makes it easier to see the cross-synergies between the main characters and makes the shifting of perspectives slightly less confusing, the book provides the much needed context, internal dialogues, fills the silences with meaning and makes everything much more powerful. Beautiful, both of them.
