I disliked this so much, I put it down for good after about halfway. No desire to try again.

Lovely read, bounces between three stories, all of them engaging. My daughter read this for school, it deals with some gay (and by that i mean homosexual not happy) material. I am thinking about these misguided people protesting All Seminar Day. We have to be vigilant, first all seminar day, then they are banning books. Not on our watch!

Looking forward to watching the movie with my daughter.

Too many details. The conversations were so odd. Parentheses galore. Did not enjoy this one at all....

This book took so long for me to finish because I found it so dull! The writing was beautiful, but u really didn't feel anything for any of the characters. Just glad to be done with it!

Talk about literature! This novel is hauntingly beautiful. The intertextuality between not only Mrs Dalloway but more of Woolf’s work was breathtaking and the writing style was so unique. Really cool idea for the days to be so intertwined and the plot twists were so interesting!! Highly recommend this to anyone who has studied Woolf or just wants to read about women womening

I watched the film of this shortly after it was released in 2002, but I've only just picked up the book. Luckily I watched it long enough ago to not remember much about the story. I loved this novel. I think it might well make my top ten books read this year.
Three stories:
A fictionalised account of a day in the life of Virginia Woolf when she was living in Richmond and desperate to move to London.
A day in the life of Mrs Brown who is struggling with her life as a wife and mother, and goes off in the middle of the day, hires a hotel room, and reads Mrs Dalloway by Virginia Woolf.
A day in the life of Clarissa Vaughan who is arranging a party for friend, and one time lover, Richard.
The stories (in particular the latter two) come together at the end with heart-stopping tragedy.
(But, oh! that terrible cover.)

The hours literally flew by.
