The writing could be repetitive and I kept getting bored with the physical book so I switched to an abridged audiobook because I simply couldn’t focus. I did start to enjoy the book more with the audiobook so changing the format (and having all the repetitive pages skipped) made a huge difference to my enjoyment and raised my rating! I did enjoy the second half much better than the first.
Margaret is unbearable 😓
As a historical figure, she’s intriguing and I want to learn more about her. However the book character is irritating and extremely unlikeable-She’s holier than thou and has a lot of internalized misogyny towards Elizabeth. She’s also quite greedy and power hungry despite saying how pious she is. I can understand where she’s coming from, and her loyalty and determination are admirable at times!
My favorite of the series (so far) is still The Lady of the Rivers! I’m hoping the MCs become more likeable as the series continues because I haven’t cared for Margaret or Elizabeth Woodville
