Bleak, spare, and finely honed. Little context or back story is given, save some shadowy memories of the boy’s mother. The world had ended, although it’s not clear how. Like the main characters, I learned not to question very much and to focus only on the steps they take down the road, the efforts they make to stay alive, and their relationship with each other. Very different from the other dystopias I’ve read recently. Beautifully written.

It’s well-written. There’s not much of a plot.

Can't decide if this is genius writing or lazy writing. Like abstract art. I enjoyed the ride. And I feel it is a grandfather of things to come so I rated it higher.
Desolate, cold and harsh. The only warmth is in the unconditional connection between the boy and the father. It’s the only hope that remains and the only reason to go on.
