The bleak nature of this work is not for the faint of heart. the monotonous constant narration helps put one in the headspace of the father and his son as they debate whether to survive in this apocalyptic world that they find themselves in. Highly reccomend reading with the warning of graphic content
I read this because I wanted to have read the book before I saw the movie. I really enjoyed it. One things to note, there isn't any proper dialogue with quotation marks, but after a bit I got used to it and really got into the story.
It takes place in the future, but isn't filled with science fiction or fantasy elements. It is more of a survival story that follows a man and his son as they wander the road just trying to survive all the death and destruction that has come upon the earth. There are some very graphic and horrific elements to the story. Some of the other survivors are not "good guys" as the book describes them, but instead are "bad guys" and will do ANYTHING for food and survival.
I really enjoyed the book and look forward to the movie. I am slightly worried that they will add some characters and plot lines to the movie that weren't in the book just to make it a more visual experiences for the audience.

I really struggled with the slow pace, the overly prosaic writing, and above all, the lack of quotation marks.
