I get that the writing is award-winning, but it is too poetic for me. It doesn't ring true. The word order and lack of commas makes it difficult to understand sentences here and there, too.
The style is addictive, though. I read half of the book my first night. Addictive, but depressing. And slow. So slow that it actually doesn't go anywhere. They literally just walk down a road for the whole book, getting no where. Heading no where? Maybe that's why I read so much at once? Because I was trying to get to something happening?

This was just an annoying read from the beginning for me. I really thought this was going to get better, so I kept reading. They never give any back story which was hard for me.

I can fully understand why some would find this a trudge or a slog, but I really enjoyed it. Bizarre descriptions and a very simplistic dialogue that doesn’t feel like it flows from inability but understanding. I really enjoyed this book.
