Simply heartbreaking. McCarthy's depiction of survival in his apocalyptic world is completely devastating but realistic. Fantastic depictions of hunger, cold, desperation, and, above all else, hope. Hits in a more personal way since I lived close to the California wildfires for a time. Loved the ending.

There were times I found it hard to get through but it’s such a quick read. And honestly one of the only post apocalyptic stories I read where there’s absolutely no hope which made it interesting.

Exceptional.

Goodness will find the little boy. It always has. It will again.

Every sentence Cormac writes: every comma, every dot and, every exclamation mark he puts on paper, he paints a picture so vivid in your mind that by the time you finish this ruthless book, you feel tired.
When I finished this book, I put it down and stared at the wall of my room. Everything seemed so pointless and meaningless at that time. I wasn't sad or depressed but just empty... and I needed a blanket.

In a distant future, there is a lot that has gone wrong. The sun does not shine anymore as the sunlight fails to pierce through thick grey smog that seems to become denser as the story progresses. The civilisation has broken down and it is every person for him/herself. In this cold, all gloves off setting, one father and his son set out on a road to reach a warmer place. They are heading toward South while protecting themselves from humans that are well...not caring for ethics and decorum anymore. For the father, everything he knew, every moment he lived in his life came to exist in the form of his son. To protect him, to see him get to a pace of comfort is all that he wants. But that is not easy and that is what the book is about.

I cannot recommend this book enough to you. I hope you read it. I cannot wait for you to take this beautifully written book in your hand and feel your heart race. At times you'd scream no and at times you'd put this book down to go drink a glass of water but you won't be able to stop reading it. Do read it.

Це все таки дійсно одна з кращих книг про постапокпліпсис, якщо не найкраща. не певен що я проникся повністю цією книгою, можливо вартує колись перечитати, але я однак лишився під сильниии враженням, дуже задоволенний
