Not really my cup of tea but there are certain dialogues in this book that are beautiful. It’s been three weeks or so since i’ve read it and i do find myself thinking about certain things in this book but the reason i gave it a slow rating is because i expected it to be completely different…more adventurous and plot based…than how emotional it was.

The concept for the book was intriguing, but I found the plot to be slow and the main character to be unlikable.
This book sucked me in immediately. It was harrowing and disorienting, especially because of the child. And you're left wondering what on earth happened.

I already knew this, but this book is a masterpiece. And not in the way that people might pretend. It hits the heart, and reading it as a father of two exacerbates that. It is a simple story about a father and son roaming the landscape of a desolate post-apocalyptic world. Hunger, clothing, weather, warmth and another human here and there are the great concerns and all the while the father is trying to stay positive with his son. It breaks the heart, but they carry the fire.
I have no background in literature and do not presume to know who or what constitutes the greats of our time etcetera etcetera. But I am heartily laughing about those who seem to have an do. It is somehow extremely funny to me that nearly every 1 star-review is somewhat of a literature studies essay on the shortcomings of this book. I am sure there is some pretension in this writing, but my good critic, please see that all of us laymen are not bothered because we do not know whoever McCarthy is emulating according to you. And yes, it is somewhat repetitive, but it is exactly the different descriptions that add some flavour for the reader. Otherwise, I am quite convinced that just trying to survive is not the most colourful and varied way of living. So i'll just lay this to rest by saying that those who are not hindered by high-brow expectations or analysis will find a great interesting story worth your time.
Also, in the time some of these people wrote the essay, you can read the book. I'd choose that ;)
