The Road

Another classic that didn't really live up to the hype for me. I got the hint the first time when I DNF'ed this book at around 20% about six months prior. I tried the audiobook this time; the lack of quotation marks not a problem now.

I love the world and the story that McCarthy presented here, but lord, it is boring. If I had to hear either of the characters say "I know" or "I don't know" one more time, I was going to lose it. The speech was beyond dry. The ending actually renewed my faith a little bit. While it was sad, it was the best part of the book; the best written and the best structured.

When I finished this book I honestly had to allow myself time to let my emotions settle. It took me more than a few days to get over reading this.
Although it is unrelentingly bleak from start to finish, there is yet love, and hope, and faith throughout. It is a rare book that can genuinely and deeply move me to the extent that I can not summon the will to start another book once I turn the final page.
Everything else feels like it is taking itself too seriously. And is just not good enough!

that was good! i liked the unique writing style a lot. i enjoyed the theme of resiliency

I really liked the story in this book. I thought it was sad and interesting at the same time. Makes you really think about what YOU might do if something like this happened. I kept finding myself trying to figure out what actually happened before this book started but afterall, the book was not about what happened but what people did to deal with it...
dark medium-paced

it was well-written with only a few plotholes but mostly it just made me miserable and sad and i would never recommend this book to anyone because it made me so sad.
