I was actually surprised with how much I got into this book. Then again, I have this weird fascination with crime tales and The Mafia. The only thing that kind of sucks is according the FBI, Richard Kuklinksi is a liar. Particularly his alleged involvement in the murder of Roy DeMeo. But, whatever. Good read, nonetheless. 3.5 stars.
This book is easily in my top 3 favorite books of all time. I will read anything Philip Carlo writes. I convinced so many people to read this book even though it wasn't a normal read for them and they LOVED it. Philip Carlo is the king of true crime.
The writing style is morbidly repetitive. I couldn't decide if the book is all facts or a lot of fiction!

Amazing book with real stories from the Head of the Mafia, it gives us a clear image of their influence in United States. I enjoyed reading it.
I feel like when you’re writing something like this, a biography of a murderer who killed 100s, you have to stay detached and unbiased no matter your feelings but it was obvious from the very beginning that Carlo was singing Richard’s praises and was confirmed by Carlo himself in the epilogue. Carlo also repeated information a lot throughout the book, it quickly become redundant and annoying. I genuinely feel the book would be 300 pages shorter if all the repeated information were to be cut out.
Overall reading about the infamous Richard Kuklinski was very interesting, I do question the validity of his stories, who knows whether they’re true or not, and we’d likely never know, but it was incredibly fascinating.
