This was not written for me in any way. But I can sense the how impactful it must be to Black females of all ages. The artwork is wonderful and emphasizes the words so well.

A beautifully illustrated book showcasing a solid poem from Mahogany L. Browne. I love the way the inside of the cover speaks to the roll call of all the women before her that helped build the platform on which she stands. Stunning work.

This is a powerful poem, gorgeously illustrated by Jess X. Snow. While this appears to be a picture book, it will speak most strongly to teens and young adults.

I read this over and over at my desk at work and I cried every time. Buy this for every black girl you know!

One of those rare moments when I want to give a book way more than 5 stars. Not sure that younger kids would really understand all of it, but I think girls 10+ would be fine.

Black Girl Magic is a beautiful poem, filled with real-world problems, real-world confidence, and a whole lot of charm (magical pun intended). You are magic, and you are beautiful, and you can be what you want to be and do what you want to do--no matter what anyone tells you. The illustrations are gorgeous and complement the poem perfectly.

I definitely recommend this for all ages. Confidence and self-love can never start too young. This is a great addition to any library-- public, school, or personal.
