An excellent murder mystery. Unusual enough to be interesting, well-written, unique detective character development and an ending I didn't really see coming...although I suspected some of it. I will definitely read some more Tana French.

3 1/2 stars! I enjoyed the mystery but the ending fell slightly flat. Will definitely read more from this author.
I don't get it. Am I not supposed to get it? I mean I understand the present-day storyline, but why do we never actually find out what happened back in 1984? Seriously, that's the most interesting part of the book! I want to know!
The ending to this book infuriated me like nothing else I've ever read, but I somehow still LOVED it. It was beautifully written, and the plot development and buildup to the conclusion were amazing, even if the conclusion was completely unsatisfying. I actually had to stop reading for a while before continuing with the final chapter because I was so angry about how conniving and deceptive the villain had been, and knowing they were going to get away with everything. For some reason I don't care as much about Rob's childhood mystery not being solved, but the fact that there was no justice served to the real villain of Katy's murder made me so angry. But again, this book had SO many other incredible things going for it, I still came away loving it.
