3 1/2. I enjoyed the depiction of an emotionally abusive relationship as that topic always interests me. Like most thrillers, this grabs you right away and is fast paced, but didn’t satisfy in the end. Good for a quick read.
~3.5 stars. The transitions between acts were a little clunky but once I settled into the narrative, I found it to be very engrossing. It's predictable and pulls a very key plot point from a popular 90's movie but overall I enjoyed it and breezed through it.

I liked this one. It kept me guessing/interested and was realistic about tough topics as opposed to tying things up with a nice bow.
From the minute I opened up this book, I was hooked. It is a definite page turner. When I had to put it down, I knew I wanted to get back to it as soon as possible. The characters are great and the relationship between best friends Harriett and Charlotte is something every best girl friend can understand.
Although this book was a great physiological thriller. Which I love, there were a few parts that were predictable, that is why I gave it 4 stars.

One needs to know that there are many forms of abuse. A mother , Harriet and her child goes to great lengths to escape her husbands emotional, verbal, physiological abuse. She works up a scheme for her child to go "missing." Of course there are obstacles in the way and it doesn't go without a hitch. She ends up losing her only best friend , Charoltte, who helps her, ends up not forgiving her but has helped her in a tremendous way.
She ends up getting away but still has a lot of guilt by the way things went down.
Sometimes we have to do things we have to for a better life.

On page 166 and Brian is really getting on my nerves, making it hard to read.
