In an effort to raise money to buy better toilet paper for students, the Student Council hosts a Valentine's Dance. With boys outnumbering girls this year, the boys are more than a little worried that they won't find a date to the dance. Greg ends up sharing a date with Rowley, though it's clear Abigail prefers Rowley to Greg.
Chaos ensues when a group fo senior citizens show up to use the gym for a meeting. To solve the problem the partition is raised so the gym can be shared between the dancers and the old folks. The lights go up and the mood is ruined. And to add insult to injury the seniro citizens demand the music complain about how loud the music is and steal the refreshments after their meeting is over.
Fans will not be disappointed. Turns out Greg is just as unlucky in love as he is in almost everything.

This was a lot better than the previous one. Manny’s imaginary friends cracked me up.

This one's okay, liked it. Slow at parts but entertaining overall.

Another great instalment to the series!
Greg is less of a sociopath this time around, but his human skills are definitely still lacking! Some of the misfortunes befalling him I could recall from when I read this as a teen.

Minor: Body shaming, Bullying, Death
The sixth book in the Wimpy Kid series and for me the least interesting. Maybe I'm getting jaded having read the first five, or maybe this is just not as funny as the earlier books. Greg and his classmates are getting excited about the Valentine's Dance. Greg worries he might be left without a partner, Greg devises various methods to get a date and employs Rowley as his wingman, possibly not a great idea as Rowley has chickenpox. At home, Greg's life is complicated by the arrival of workshy Uncle Gary.
