I love the characters in this book, the dry humor, and the many twists in a plot that remains accessible yet full of surprises. I also really enjoyed the many different view points and the short chapters that made it easy to pick this book up and read for a few minutes or a few hours. A perfect mystery for me (and really more than one mystery solved). I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

I liked this. It was a cozy mystery, with a wonderful cast of old characters. Quite refreshing seeing elderly people in the center of a book.
I will say this did nothing extraordinary for me - yes it was enjoyable, but I will not continue on in the series. I think this book can stand on it's own very well.

Frankly disappointing. Very clunky writing, 2D Characters, and the plot gets easily lost.

At the end of the audiobook (on Libby) the author Richard Osman is interviewed, and he states how as we grow older, the body gets a bit weaker, but the person inside our mind stays the same. Even though the characters are all in their 70s and 80s, they are still the lovable, caring, vivacious and complex people they were in their youth, and to hear a story from their perspective is amazing.

Very average book. The plot is not very inventive, the ending felt rushed and there were too many "twists" to be enjoyable. The four main characters were also very unlikable for me. The humour is the book's only strength in the end.
