I don’t want to write anything until I know my book club ladies have finished! :)

I was torn between 3 and 4 stars. This book had a lot of potential but a few things annoyed me about it. 1) The main character plays the violin. At one point she crushes a glass in her hand and gets a giant shard lodged in her palm. In the next scene it mentions that her hand is bandaged... and then no further mention of the injury ever again, and six months later, she is playing her first major concert. So it healed? Completely? And she didn't worry about losing her ability to play, or at least worry about the concert because of missed practice time? Just seems like a careless omission. 2) Totally unsatisfying ending with respect to Noah, but I won't say more than that in order to avoid spoilers. 3) I got tired of how all the fights Nori had with her brother ended up: in a nutshell, "You don't care for me!" "I have a life outside of you!" "I'm sorry, you're right, you should do X after all." "No, I love you too much." They always end up fighting on the opposite side from that which they started on. Similarly, the characters are kind of crazy up-and-down - in one scene, Nori will be determined to hold her own! But then her courage evaporates! But she will not show her emotions! Wait, she can't hold back her sobs. And then her misery turns to anger!

Okay, with all that out of the way, I would read another book by this author, she's a great storyteller, just a few quirks (in my opinion) need ironing out!

Pretty amazing that this book was written by a first-time author. It held my interest, and was well written. I had mixed feelings about the ending, but that's fine too. Definitely glad I read it.
