quality of writing: 1/10 enjoyment: 2/10 pc: 305 people were raving about this book on booktok but this shit was really mid. you could firstly tell it was written by a man, but it was also just really generic. i enjoyed some of the characters but the plot was so simple and there were so many scenes where i was like this is boring and i can tell what narrative purpose this scene or this character serves bc i am not very engaged and this is cheesy and has been done so many times already like i can see straight through to the outline idk how to explain it? and there were multiple characters whose motivations and character traits and behaviors did not flow well at all. like in one scene this character behaves in a certain way and in the next scene they would behave completely differently out of nowhere because they needed to in order for the story to progress a certain way and it was so unnatural and didn’t make any sense because it completely contradicted everything we’d been seen up to that point and it was so bad lmao. the art was really pretty and cool though. and i liked fish sky and forest.
