A great sequel. Not just a holding period between the first and third books, but truly an immersive continuation of the story and opener of an appropriate number of new threads for the third.

I truly appreciate that these main characters don't have plot armor. It makes the stakes higher when I'm not sure who might be eliminated or when (though this book is less scarring in that regard than the first IMO). The way action scenes are introduced grabs me because the words are so carefully organized that I don't know what's happening until it's happening, which keeps the pace quick.

This one was an improvement from the first, overall I enjoyed the story and the way it was laid out, and there was a lot less pessimism in this book than the previous one.

A great sequel to the first book. Totally worth continuing if you liked TCE.
