I may be biased but I think the movie is better. This is a long book, there are many parts that I personally felt could've been tightened or just straight up skipped over. The same thing can be said for characters. Some of them just felt kind of pointless in the book. I did enjoy it alot tho, I will definitely be reading the whole trilogy and rewatching the movies as well.

This narration is fantastic!! The only reason I started this series was because I hoped his narration would help me follow the story, despite all the unfamiliar language and the hunch paid off. Andy Serkis is a gem of a voice actor!!!

I’m glad I finally read this classic. It takes you in this great adventure while going really slow. I read the hobbit more easily because it picks up faster, however I really liked the immersion into this wonderful world. I have seen the movie ages ago and it made the world more real for me while also showing how much the movie left out. I am excited to read the rest of the trilogy.
