This book was just what I needed. Something contemporary, sweet, and charming after diving into the world of paranormal fantasy. This was a breath of fresh air. I spent all day on the couch immersed in the world of Angie and Ten. I loved the progression Angie made from beginning to end. I really think this showcased the positive growth a young adult can make when given the opportunity to make tough choices and guided along the way.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is looking for an easy love story to fall into.

A better-than-usual effort from Swoon Reads. I could have used more of the music scene, but it was a fairly light, uncomplicated contemporary romance. Check out my full review over at Forever Young Adult.

Not Another Love Song by Olivia Wildenstein is a cute young adult romance.

Angie Conrad is a high school senior who is an aspiring songwriter and singer who yearns to be just like her idol, Mona Stone.  But her mom Jade, who harbors unpleasant memories of life with Angie's musician dad, does not want her daughter to have anything to do with the industry. So Angie has her work cut out for her when she wants to enter Mona's songwriting contest. And after she becomes close to newcomer Ten and his younger sister Nev, will Angie have a change of heart about her aspirations?

Angie is single-minded  about her musical dreams. She and her mom are close but on this one subject, they are miles apart. Jade has given a little and Angie is working with a voice teacher on honing her singing skills.  Despite knowing Jade probably won't let her enter the contest, Angie works hard on polishing the song she is working on.

Ten is a loner who is not at all happy about his family's move.  When he tells Angie he hates music, she writes him off. But since they share classes, she cannot avoid him altogether. She is a bit bewildered by her growing crush on him and he adds to her confusion with his hot/cold attitude towards her. But after she becomes friends with his younger sister, Nev, she grows closer to Ten.  But will their relationship survive her plans for Mona's competition?

Not Another Love Song is a fun young adult romance with interesting characters.  Ten and Angie are multi-faceted with relatable flaws and strengths. The secondary characters are likable but they are not as well-developed as Ten, Angie and Nev. The storyline is engaging but the romance element is very slow moving.  Olivia Wildenstein brings the novel to a sigh-worthy, heartwarming conclusion. Recommend to older teen readers.

I was surprised by how much I liked this! I was expecting a heavier romance aspect to it, but there was a lot more about dreams and family expectation, but also kissing. More of a slow burn.

If you can, listen to the audio to hear the song featured in this book! That was a nice surprise!

There is nothing like a story with a little bit of country music, an aspiring song writer, romance, and family drama to make a girl swoon. Not Another Love Song is a heartwarming book that I loved from the beginning to end. Brought back so many memories of falling in love.

Angie has always dreamed of being a singer and songwriter. So when she gets the opportunity to enter her idol, Mona Stone’s songwriting competition, she jumps at the chance. But her pragmatic mother doesn’t approve of her plan, and actively tries to prevent her from entering. When new student Ten comes into Angie’s life, his disapproval of all things music infuriates Angie, but at the same time, he intrigues her. But what if she can’t have both Ten and her dream?

Not Another Love Song is told entirely in the first-person from Angie’s perspective. I really liked Angie and rooted for her throughout the entire book. My favorite part of this book was the relationship between Angie and Ten’s little sister Nev, who is also a singer. Nev is struggling to make friends and Angie takes her under her wing, forming the sweetest friendship. In my opinion, it should have been the main plot of the story, not that the romance was bad, it just wasn’t as enjoyable to read as the sections with Nev and Angie.

Fans of Erin Hahn’s You’d Be Mine, and the TV series Nashville would enjoy Not Another Love Song. It’s an incredibly light read with an enjoyable storyline.

Thank you to XPresso Tours, Netgalley, and Swoon Reads for the review copy. All opinions are my own.

The cover does not match the book! This is highly irritating.

Angie lives in Nashville and her only focus is to be just like her favorite singer Mona Stone.

But when a new guy moves into town, things are a jumble.

I give this book points for the main character e-biking everywhere.
