I know this is a classic, and I know kids like the sound of the poems, but boy are some of them strange.

Very interesting to know these rhymes backwards and forwards as a child and then to return later to read them with the eyes of adult. I enjoy the style of illustrations in this book--I have not seen similar illustrations anywhere.

This probably sacrilege...but most of this book is too dated to truly be enjoyed by my young children, or me really. While we skimmed for the rhymes that were familiar to me, which were very few considering the quantity of Mother Goose nursery rhymes, most of the book contained rhymes using phrases or words that even I could not explain to my boys.

My parents read me this book when I was a kid and I can't wait to read it to my kids.
