This felt like fanfiction but that is not a complaint as I happen to love (and quite frequently ingest) fanfiction. There was some plot but mostly it was just the smut and that is also okay with me. I went into this literally for the monster fucking and that is what I got out of it.

I will burn this entire world and the next to the ground before I let anyone hurt you again.

This trope is so unique. Getting cozy with your paralysis demon? Yeah, not something I've ever read before. Now make that said demon hot af and a dirty-talker!

I can't consider this as a stand-alone. It was clearly meant to set the foundations of the series. I was so intrigued about the world building and the depiction of Heaven, Hell and Earth as well as the creatures inhabiting it. It feels like the author has developed a complex lore, some of it relating to the interpretation of good and bad.
Of course, I was confused at times with names and the functioning of each group and all the bombardment of information that didn't entirely connect with our couple's story, which at times seemed forced to the background.

The mcs were quite interesting and had this ricocheted chemistry between them. Their feelings though were a bit rushed and they went from zero to fully bloomed. I was surprised by the spice and the con/non-con side of it. The spice was so, so good but it was also the major part of their relationship. They only had s*x and the boom in love. I can't deny though that the mcs grew on me and the rest of their story was lovely.

All in all, I really enjoyed this novella, its uniqueness, the lore and my new favorite demon, Acheron. Also, that book cover is gorgeous.

Did I like it? Yes.
Would I reread it? Yes

I debated between 4 and 5 stars but, with how giddy this couple made me, I realized it definitely deserved 5 stars.

I will say, the entire war plot line seemed a bit unnecessary. I found myself skimming that information. Perhaps it’s foundation for a bigger plot in future books? Either way, I wasn’t drawn in by that portion.

Otherwise though, the smut was fantastic, I fell in love with both characters, and, for a demon novel, it left me with such giddy, happy bliss.

Saw this on TikTok and was really excited about starting this monster-loving journey and as I continued to read the description for demon man I realized he wasn’t the figure we see on the cover and now could only picture a guy with a tail and antlers ☹️ but it started strong, but then completely lost me when we shifted to his POV and it just gave me A Touch of Darkness vibes in terms of world building and I just didn’t vibe with it. Still finished it cause it was a short read but was a bit disappointed. Also Penny just straight up watched a guy get murdered and came out of it unscathed? Sure, I understand what she must have felt knowing he was involved with what happened to her dad but it was such a quick plot point and even the reveal of knowing he was involved could be seen very early on.
