Another book from Ruthie Luhnow that I've fallen completely in love with. When you first meet Reed, you understand that there is something deeply broken with him, although he likes to play it off with humor and self-deprecation. But you can't help but like his complete honesty, even though it makes you want to cringe from time to time. When he meets Mona and Brady, the two people he will be staying with for a year, he acts like a spoiled and entitled brat, but it's obvious that he's also scared. He's only 20 and by his own admission, he's been through a lot more than most adults have to go through, and his troubles are mostly by his own doing.

Brady is thoughtful and considering. He understands Reed after he sees past his hard, petulant exterior, but that doesn't make him want to get closer to Reed. Their relationship is slow, but the more they talk and admit not only about their insecurities of their past that influence who they are, the more you see a real connection growing between the two.

And like Bloom, another book from Ms. Luhnow I absolutely loved as well, the ending between Reed and Brady is both satisfying and well-earned. Yes, both men change for the better, but they realize that while they had the courage to admit their fears, it was the strength of what they felt for each other that made their HEA perfect.

Another absolute perfect couple and a guaranteed must-read!!!

Nice Slow Burn

This book was my introduction to this author. I enjoyed this slow burn love story. Reed and Brady were great for each other. At first I was kind of disappointed about neither one having a relationship with their biological mothers until I realized the story is about making your own family. Finding a family to love you is special. I can't wait to read more by this author.

Okay, wow? This was really cute. This was a great slow burn romance with a 9 year age gap and lots of emotional growth. I loved how Brady and Reed brought out the truth in each other. And I freaking loved how Mona is queer, too. Lots of good stuff in this one, kiddos.

There was a lot of growth for Reed and some for Brady too. The book wasn't bad, it was just slow.

What we have here is a story of growth, and learning to trust. Reed seems such a caricature of a spoiled brat! And yet... you'll slowly discover what he hides under such an unpleasant exterior.

A lovely story of two men overcoming differences, finding an unexpected middle ground... and keep going from there to their deserved HEA.

I'm sure you'll love this book.

Gives a whole new meaning to slow burn!

Lordy this is slow burn and then some with the first kiss not happening until 80% in, but surprisingly, it works.

It's not like there's massive UST either, for a long part of this story the two MCs are just becoming friends. It suited the setting, the slow rolling ranch lifestyle, the Wyoming hills, the sleepy town. To have had a fast and frantic love story would have felt out of place.

There was a bit of dramady which the narrative could have still worked without but I was glad that Reed found the courage to stand up for himself and reject the way his family treated him.

I didn't warm up to either of the MCs particularly though, one of the reasons for my slightly lower rating, for whatever reason, I just couldn't fall in love with them.

I did, however, love Mona and the book's setting as a whole, which felt realistic and welcoming, even if everyone who interacted with Brady ended up being bisexual (apart from him and Reed that is).

I didn't really like this. I found it a bit slow - I think that I was distracted wondering what Reed did all day. Did he actually contribute to the farm - did his parents pay for him to be there? I didn't get a sense of how he could integrate into such a different lifestyle.
So many people I follow loved this but it didn't resonate with me

This was very sweet and slow, and I loved most of it. I just wish it hadn't been in alternating first person POV. I'm not a fan of it in the first place, and here it made it very difficult for me to like one of the characters.

The plot itself wasn't exactly original - spoiled rich kid gets sent to a farm im Wyoming as a punishment, where he changes his ways and falls in love - but it's told well. I definitely enjoyed it, but I really do think it would have been better with a different POV. First person POV plus asshole attitude is not an enjoyable combination for me.
