Bit of a let down after Tender is the Flesh. There’s a few stories I liked but I found most of them to be lacking that something that made TITF so gripping. Maybe some things got lost in translation this time around.

Amazing collection of short stories by Bazterrica, horror filled and grim but engrossing. Will definitely be picking up tender is the flesh after reading this.

If you’re thinking of reading this because you loved Tender is the Flesh, my advice would be don’t. It’s an obscure, eclectic, seemingly experimental collections of short stories which seem to have no real merit to them. Bitterly disappointing given that her last book was one of my all time favourites.

Unfortunately there were only about 4 stories in the entire collection I truly enjoyed.

Some great short stories that, naturally, I wish was longer.

Compared to her other book “Tender is the Flesh” she either got a new translator or editor because the was a difference in her sentence structure and tone. Loved seeing the growth, hope to see another novel from her with a full story.
