I did want to know what the kids were doing during Lady Time's rampage, but my favorite part of this series is the interactions between Rune and Brand, and they're almost completely extraneous to this story.
I do want to know what happens next, but I hope the most interesting characters with the most functional relationship factor in a bit more in the next book.

The Eidolon is a short companion novel to The Hourglass Throne, following Quinn, Max, and Anna through the events of that book. KD very helpfully provides a guide to how the chapters of each line up, so on reread I’ll likely use that to read them concurrently, but for this read I had literally just finished a reread of the trilogy before my copy of this book arrived, which is stunning.
While I wouldn’t say this book is necessary to understand the other books, it does give some fun clues to what is going to happen in the next trilogy (seriously some of the reveals made me rethink everything we’ve seen so far) and it offers more insight into the kids as up to now we’ve only ever seen events from Rune’s perspective.
All in all, this was a fun addition to a world I love, and I will happily keep reading whatever KD writes in it.

When I read the third book of the previous series, I was a little "wait what" at a few parts and while I still really enjoyed it, it always made me wonder if anything was left out. It seems like there was! This filled out anything that I felt was missing from the third book of the previous series!
I loved the adventure with Max, Quinn, and Anna, although this is definitely something you want to read while reading the third book. The author even provides a handy when to read what chapters where! I really hope for more with these three, especially with their own story that stands a little more on its own! Anything in this world makes me happy and I am 100% here for it.

Another delightful entry in the Tarot Sequence world. Note, this is a companion novel to book 3, so this should be read after 3.
After reading the foreword, a lot of my critiques about book 3 were answered. I felt that book 3 was (still great! but) too short. Apparently supply chain issues set a hard page limit and the story in this book was excised. Which is a real shame because this was great and would have strengthened book 3, but also great because this hardcover is a beautiful book. I had a ton of fun reading this, the Max/Quinn/Anna gang brings some lovely levity to the Tarot world.
If you’ve read the rest of the Tarot sequence, I can’t recommend this enough.
