I read the Twilight Saga during its peak in the late-2000s and early-2010s. With the Twilight renaissance that’s been happening, I thought it would be fun to go back and revisit the series.

“New Moon” used to be my favorite book in the series—I have been a Team Jacob girlie since the start. This time around, I was so incredibly sad when
Edward came back and ruined everything. Bella was starting to work through her depression and had finally decided to give Jake a chance, because she thought she could grow to love him, and what happens? That pervert’s sister bulldozes back into her life. Charlie was right to be wary about letting Bella hang with the Cullens again and frankly I wish he’d pushed back harder. They should have let the Volturi execute Edward in Italy and continued having a grand time in Forks.

i hate men named jacob black!!!!!!!
ok thats mean i dont hate him
im just a bit dead inside
i think what hooked me on to twilight was the relationship between bella and edward. this entire book was just jacob and bella fluffing around until edward loses his shit in Italy.
this was painful for me. i still cant rate this like a 2 because there was some edward moments!
and alice! my love. she makes everything better <3 welcome home to my brain
anyways yeah there were still some good edward moments and up until the epilogue i was like "ok cool this is an easy 4 star".
why was the epilogue like that????????
im sorry i hate the love triangle angle! im not a big fan of the trope as is, but the fact jacob is 2 years younger and so emotionally immature.... im sorry i cant. it feels forced and i hate it!
anyways here's to less jacob black, and more alice cullen

-This book is so good it was definitely more sadder and tense then the first one but given the fact that i watched the movies a good 7000 times in the years since 2015 it was expected but like i said the first book they really left allot of good stuff out of the movies or they flipped it into something similar but not like the movies i loved how Edward spoke to her and i was so excited when they reunited if you have never read the books before my personal opinion i would highly recommend to watch the movies first as much as you would think it would spoil the book they left out allot and flipped allot of parts from the book i mean so much that i was not expecting it it definitely was comforting for me that i watched the movies before i read any of the books because i have terrible anxiety that gets easily triggered especially when happy couples break up even though in the books they normally get back together but still so i was comforted to know that they were guaranteed to reunite but i do also wish like the first book that they would’ve put some parts into the movie they left such good parts out when they made the movie and like i also said when i read the first book that i 100% think no questions asked that the books are better then the movies are the movies are still good though i rated this book 5 stars right along with the first one⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️-

💬: "One thing I truly knew—knew it in the pit of my stomach, in the center of my bones, knew it from the crown of my head to the soles of my feet, knew it deep in my empty chest—was how love gave someone the power to break you."

----

New Moon is the second installment in the Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer. This book has some of the same issues that the first book, Twilight, has. Bella and Edward seem to still have a toxic relationship, both Bella AND Edward still has some serious dependency issues, and once again, there's a big chunk of this book where nothing really happens. In New Moon, Bella and Edward spend almost the duration of the book separated. This leaves a lot of space for the third part of the love triangle to come in, and that's Jacob Black.

Unfortunately, their relationship is still toxic, or rather Edward still has abusive tendencies. Here's an example,

“No! No! NO!” Edward roared, charging back into the room. He was in my face before I had time to blink, bending over me, his expression twisted in rage. “Are you insane?” he shouted. “Have you utterly lost your mind?” I cringed away, my hands over my ears.

This was towards the end of the book, when Edward got upset about a decision Bella made. Edward also does this.

“Carlisle?” I turned to look at him. Edward grabbed my face in his hand, forcing me to look at him. His other hand was out, palm toward Carlisle.

This is right after Edward starts yelling at Bella and throwing his tantrum. I understand being upset, but I don't think that's really acceptable behavior. He's scaring her and purposefully being intimating.

In this book, Bella and Edward spend a significant time away from each other and they both act like they're dying because of it. I won't spoil why they spend time apart or how the situation comes to be, but I will say that Bella basically goes catatonic for a while. She has constant nightmares that she awakes from screaming. She goes into a deep depression. Then she starts
hearing Edward's voice in her head whenever she would do something deemed "dangerous" or "life threatening".
Instead of seeing a doctor or specalist, she decides
to keep doing dangerous things so she can continue to hear his voice in her head. Yeah, okay.
I always thought this part of the saga was weird, concerning, and not romantic in the slightest.

Once again, this book goes on for about 45% (200 pgs) before anything interesting or exciting happens. This is the second book in the series that has pacing issues that make almost the majority of the book, boring. I always have to remind myself that the movie adaptation is superior to the books, because wow. Most of this was boring.

There were some interesting parts in this story, like the stuff near the end of the book. I shouldn't have to read almost half of your book for anything to happen Mrs. Meyer. I also still hate the dynamic Bella and Edward have, but I do like the side characters a lot. Overall, this book was better than the first. I'm giving this 2.5 out of 5 stars.

This isn't a love triangle. Both Edward and Jacob are horrible love interests and not a healthy relationship if you pull off the mask of ~ooh supernatural~. Everyone sucks and the book does too, do not read if you are looking for a genuinely good book.
