2017 Popsugar Reading Challenge:
A book about an interesting woman, a book with a subtitle, a book where the main character is a different ethnicity than you, a book written by a person of color, a book with a title that's also a character's name

While the subject matter is certainly fascinating (I definitely want to read more about Nzingha after reading this), it's too damn short, and the first-person diary-style narration just didn't do it for me (first-person narration seems to turn me off in general). However, this book certainly accomplished its goal; it got me interested in learning more about a fascinating human being that I probably would have never even heard of otherwise. That alone makes this worth the read.
