I absolutely love the new cast of characters John Flanagan has created for the Brother Band series. They're all wonderful outcasts and I'm excited to continue reading about them. He has a true gift for creating realistic yet likeable characters. Love the dialogue, too!
The only reason this book doesn't get five stars from me is because of its huge cliffhanger ending. I can see dangling enough to entice readers to continue the series but it aggravates me when the book feels like someone cut the last half of it off just to sell me another book at a later date.

Like most of John Flanagan's books this book is very entertaining and easy to read. Much the same style as his previous series The Rangers Apprentice. Stamp of approval.
I personally loved the Ranger's Apprentice books when I was in fourth and fifth grade, and so I was really excited to read the Brotherband books as well. Brotherband was good, but I felt more of a connection to the characters in Ranger's Apprentice.

A lot of action, good suspense, friendship, vikings and the knowledge, that a bit of thinking might get you farther than all the muscle in the world.
That makes for one perfect read for everybody who needs something that will never get boring, not even for one page!
