A quick fun relaxing read, can't wait to read the sequel!

Absolutely loved the setting though reading RA beforehand and already knowing Erak, Svengal, Hallasholm and a bit about Scandian culture beforehand definitely helped.

I really enjoyed the banter between friends as well as their more serious moments and same as RA loved the familiar bond forming between characters that are not related. These relationships are everything to me.

Still hoping some of the characters will be further developed in the following books because now they felt a bit one dimensional and just fulfilling their basic role, e.g. a bully and a rival with no redeeming qualities that you just have to dislike all the way through...

At first I did not like this set as much as the Ranger's Apprentice set. I had just read and maybe even re-read that set when I picked this one up. Since some time has passed and I have re-read this Brotherband set, I appreciate it more -- since I am not comparing it to the Will/Halt/ set of characters. They stand up well on their own, as long as the reader can allow Hal & Co to stand on their own.
